2D barcodes + Internet Mobile Payment + Social Networks = TMS PayWorld

TMS Republic will launch next week its Mobile Payment solution.

“TMS PayWorld” is a multi device payment solution which associates Social Network model to a Mobile Wallet and 2D barcodes technology. The solution is “open” (Telco’s independent) and can be used by all mobile subscribers anywhere anytime via GRPS, EDGE, 3G or WIFI networks.

MobiTMS; after the launching, a few weeks ago, of the Mobile Search Engine of 2D barcodes, which opens up the 2D barcode technology access to all the mobile Internet users without the need to download a reader application on mobile phones. MobiTMS announces today the launching in the Philippines (world capital of SMS and Mobile goods purchases) of a mobile payment solution, Telco’s independent, which associates a real time billing platform to a 2D barcodes solution to launch transactions and an account management platform accessible on mobile phones and/or social networks web pages via a widget developed with the Open Social platform.

This TMS payment solution allow TMS accountholders to launch a transaction on multi support (Print, Web or directly in a store) just using a TMS code or 2D barcode associated to a transaction web page accessible via connected devices (computer, mobile phone…). The user can purchases mobiles goods and download them in the same sequence (MobiTMS will offer access to a catalogue of more than 90,000 mobile goods including games). The solution also allows the user to pay for web services or virtual goods and to create a friends network to transfer and receive money.

“TMS PayWorld is based on the following principles: Invitations, Widgets, Friends networks, Purchases Cash back and Recommendations” said Frederick Saurat MobiTMS co-founder. “For the launching in the Philippines (to be followed by the US in January 08) TMS will offer invitations to open a TMS PW (PayWorld) account with money already in the account for the purchase of goods. The invitation will be offered via local media partners for example: MTV, Yehey, Print magazines, Social Networks… after that TMS accountholders can start to create his own network inviting friends to open a TMS account and during the first year he will share the invited friends cash back program based on the friends’ purchases”.

“The Cash back program and the recommendation system which allows a member who makes a purchase using the TMS PW solution to recommend his purchase automatically to his friend’s network (he just needs to click on the recommendation confirm button during the mobile purchase operation) represents a real motivation for the user to develop their friends network” added David Jacka, co-founder of MobiTMS. “It’s also the first payment platform built for multi device access and developed on Social Network principles”.

More about TMS PayWorld

- Open an account via invitations

A user can only open a TMS PW account via invitation. A TMS accountholders can invite friends to open a TMS account and during the first year he will share with the invited friends the cash back program on the friends’ purchases.

- Widgets

The invitations to open a TMS account will be distributed on social networks via Widgets. The account management page will be accessible by Mobile phone and by TMS widget installed on the social personal page of the user. (Open Social is already a base used to develop the TMS Widgets)

- Friends Network

The TMS accountholders has to create a network of friends and link the friends account to: transfer or collect money or recommend a purchases. The network of friends will be composed of friends invited by the user and friends who have already a TMS account.

- Cash back program

TMS PW is based on a cash back program associated to the purchases of the members

The TMS accountholder will receive back at the end of every month 6% of the amount of his purchases. For the first year he will share (50%) of his cash back with the friend who invited him.

- Recommendations

When a member makes a purchase using the TMS PW solution he can recommend his purchase automatically to his friend’s network (he just needs to click on the recommendation confirm button). This action (in complement of the advice) can increase the revenues from the invited friends’ cash back.

Are 2D barcodes the next revolution? With “TMS Search Codes” (the browser solution to access 2D barcodes), tomorrow is already today.

A MobiTMS PR
MobiTMS launch a Code search engine which offers mobile users the ability to launch a page or an action linked to a TMS Code using the mobile phone browser; to go to www.tms-search.com and enter the code number.

MobiTMS the provider of TMS a suite of Mobile Internet Services which creates a bridge between Digital and Mobile has announced today the launching of a mobile browser solution to access 2D barcodes via the TMS Codes numbers associated.

The 2D barcode technology is a great innovation but with a major problem “The Mobile Application Download”. If we consider that a large number of the phones in the world market aren’t compatible for the reader download for different raisons (no camera, OS or camera not accessible, applications download blocked by Telco’s…) and that some users don’t know how to (or don’t want to) load a mobile application. The 2D Barcode technology is not yet ready to be used for mass market applications.

MobiTMS will continue to promote the download solution to access the TMS Codes with the development of user friendly ways to get the mobile reader as widget associated to SMS Wap link and partnerships with handsets manufacturers to embed the reader at manufacturing.

But to leverage the access of the TMS Codes and to offer immediately TMS publishers and advertiser partners mass market access, MobiTMS launch a worldwide browser solution to access the Codes.

Users who cannot get (or don’t want) the mobile reader application, can use the mobile browser to access the TMS Code Search Engine www.tms-search.com and enter the TMS Code to launch the action or pages linked. (And bookmark the address for the next use).

“With these 2 solutions, download & browser, the TMS Codes & Barcodes are accessible by 100% of the mobile users with GPRS, EDGE, 3G or WIFI. This is what has been requested by our partners in I.C.E (Internet, Communities and Entertainment) businesses, we have opened to them a huge market that is accessible right now”, says Frederick Saurat the co-founder of MobiTMS.

TMS Republic launch a V2

TMS Republic launch a new beta version www.tmsrepublic.com based on 3 areas of services around the TMS codes, which are the heart of TMS. (The entrance to each area of services is represented by a black background page to symbolize a door or “passage to”).

The first area is a place where you can find the mobile version of “your favorite” blogs, media, videos….and get it via the associated TMS codes. We will add the possibility to suggest and vote for news “mobilized” contents. The second area is a place where you can “mobilize” your own contents or Social services (such as Blogs, Flickr Album, Twitter…) and create the TMS codes to share them. The third area is the Mobile payment platform where you can manage your account (TMS Wallet), your purchases and make P2P transfers via TMS codes.

The TMS codes are linked to Mobile Url contents or Mobile actions (send SMS, Call back, Transfer info or money…)

The TMS codes can be used with 3 different options:

1) The TMS 2D barcode and the Mobile code reader. The user needs the TMS barcode reader application* on his phone to scan the barcode (or enter the code number) and access directly to the content or launch an action. (The most sexy and friendly).

* To receive the FREE TMS reader compatible for his phone (more than 500 models) the user just needs to give his cell number from our web site www.tmsrepublic.com and he will receive the mobile wap link for a direct download.

2) TMS Code Search. The user opens the TMS republic wap portal (already bookmarked in his phone) and enters the TMS code in the TMS search engine which will link him direct to the content.

3) TMS Mobi Twitt and the TMS MobiBot. The user can use Twitter, or the mobile version built by TMS, to send a TMS code to the TMS Republic Feed via direct message and the TMS MobiBot will send back the mobile wap link to click (via SMS notification).

MobiTMS & Woodwing Partners to revolutionize Print Media

interactive mobile service for Inquirer Group
By Erwin Oliva
INQUIRER.net Philippine 09/12/2007

MANILA, Philippines –
This is part of a bigger initiative of the Inquirer Group, which recently inked a deal with wireless applications provider MobiTMS, WoodWing Asia Pacific Sdn Bhd and Serious Technology Sdn Bhd. Woodwing is an editorial publishing software provider in the Asia Pacific region, while Serious Technology is a regional publishing technology company.

TMS is interactive code found in print media. It can be read by special software installed in mobile phones. TMS is now used to link print advertising to an online and web content.

Poch Bermudez, president of HIP, added that this partnership will "revolutionize" print and online media "Print and online media will never be the same again," he said.

"We have been overwhelmed by the level of interest from advertisers and media to embrace this new mobile technology. We are working quickly with our new partners to build out our Asia infrastructure to meet the exploding demand," said co-founder of MobiTMS Frederick Saurat.

Virtual Worlds Are The Future Of Global Commerce: ICANN CEO

In a wide ranging keynote address at the 2007 Influence Forum, ICANN CEO Paul Twomey told the audience that virtual worlds are the future of global commerce.

Twomey used The Sims Online as an example of the sort of interface all companies in the future will be using, in fields including retail, client services, B2B and advertising. Twomey cited the interface behind Google Earth as another example of a “game-like interface” that has been put to real world use. Twomey said that geolocation services would also play an important role in the virtual internet, suggesting that the way we will interact within next generation virtual internet services would have a strong geographical focus.

It’s interesting that the head of the body that controls the internet believes that the world of tomorrow is virtual; Twomey didn’t suggest that it may happen, he stated that it would be as a fact. Virtual worlds such as Second Life may not be the exact model used in the future, but there is little doubt that if Twomey is correct they are certainly heading in the right direction.

why Apple seems to be so cataclysmically afraid of releasing an unlocked iPhone?

Moco news blog
If the device isn’t going to be subsidized through carriers anyway why not sell it direct? If Apple doesn’t like dealing with the orifices that are telcos why not strike a deal with Carphone Warehouse, for example? The only answer is that it really wants that extra and on-going revenue from the telco service that it is getting through AT&T, and thinks that is worth selling fewer devices… Meanwhile,
Fortune argues that the launch of the iPod touch could sap sales of the iPhone, although that would account for people seeking a cool gadget rather than people seeking a converged device. The article goes on to argue that it’s the WiFi capabilities in the iPod touch (and some other handsets) which pose the big problem to telcos...the old argument that WiFi plus VoIP equals death of mobile networks. Of course, WiFi would have to become a lot more ubiquitous and a lot more easy to use before that scenario plays out.

10 Micro-Blogging Tools Compared

I read this on the "read / write web blog" I agree on the conclusion of this post by A.Henry
"Micro-blogging isn't a short-term trend - it is here to stay. The evolution of blogging has spawned this new mini version of blogging and many are latching on. The simplicity and ability to post frequently are what attract most to the concept. We expect much faster adoption and mainstream penetration than blogging in general."

the post

Twitter is th key player in space and the company name is used synonymously with micro-blogging. The free service allows users to post status updates via SMS, e-mail, or web browser. What's more, Twitter has an open platform eallowing third party developers to build on top of it

TMS as already developed a mobile version or Twitter let user access to it on his mobile, post and send direct messages to friends (means free SMS all over the world) we will come back on this ASAP in a post.

Pownce recently launched a micro-blogging platform with added functionality. On top of messaging, users can quickly and easily share links, files, or events with any or all of his/her contacts.

Jaiku is considered by many to be Twitter's closest competitor. Most features and functions are similar. It will be interesting to see how the company plans to emerge from the shadow of its main rival.

MySay is what it says. Instead of text updates, users call MySay and say how they are doing today. Then, friends or family can listen via phone, e-mail, or the web.

Hictu is a service for video microbloggers. A webcam and a mouse-click are all that is needed to create a videopost. This streamlined solution saves time and effort for traditional vloggers.

Moodmill is a way to express your mood or current state of being. A sliding scale facilitates this process, while a quick text update completes the personalized service.

Frazr is also very similar to Twitter. The main difference is one of language. Frazr is focused primarily on the French and German markets.

IRateMyDay allows you the ability to (yes, you guessed it) rate your day on a scale of 'Worst' to 'Great'. Users can also provide a short text update to accompany the rating.

Emotionr is a way to gauge your happiness on a scale of 1-10 (decimals included). As the name touts, it is a way to express and share your emotions and feelings with those around you.

Battle Tech Vs Telco’s ?

By Stephanie Mehta, Fortune senior writer
"....The reasons for the rivalry are complex and myriad, but it essentially boils down to a classic struggle between content players and distributors for the hearts, minds and wallets of American consumers - all with a digital twist.

And the twist is this: Internet companies would like telecom networks, wireless networks in particular, to be more "Internet-like," meaning they'll begin to migrate away from a so-called walled garden approach on their wireless networks, and use the mobile Web as freely as they do on a PC. Already carriers in Europe, such as Vodafone, are taking steps to break down such walls, letting customers access general Web content without having to go through the carrier-operated portals.....

The tech-telco throwdown has manifested itself in several ways. Early last year there was a hearty debate over Net neutrality legislation, which sought to regulate the Internet by prohibiting phone and cable companies from limiting or prioritizing Web traffic on their wired broadband networks. A few Silicon Valley-born, venture-backed companies such as M2Z (short for "Move to Zero") now are seeking to become broadband network operators, arguing they can do it better and cheaper than the incumbent phone companies...
But the biggest and most interesting salvo in the tech v. telecom fight is Google's potential bid for wireless spectrum, and its rumored development of wireless handsets. Google CEO Eric Schmidt earlier this month told a group of regulators and communications lobbyists that the company probably would bid for wireless licenses in an upcoming auction of spectrum in the 700 Mhz band, presumably in the hopes of building the nation's fifth nationwide wireless network.
But by thinking about bidding on licenses - and possibly deploying its own handsets - Google clearly must be thinking about ways to end-run the traditional telecommunications infrastructure. (Consumers without Web browsers in their mobile phones typically access mobile data through a "deck" of services controlled or selected by their phone company.)

Technology and telecom companies "are trying to leverage their existing strengths to get to a dominant position in the wireless value chain," says Blair Levin, a managing director at Stifel Nicholas, and a former Federal Communications Commission official. "Google is about applications, and it is trying to make sure the network operators don't dominate the field and keep its searches away from the consumer."

But that doesn't mean the phone companies are going to cede market share and customer relationships without a fight. They're no fans of companies seeking free or low-cost spectrum from the FCC in exchange for promises of offering cheap broadband, and they've long argued that their ownership of networks gives them the right (or responsibility) to only allow authorized devices on their networks, thereby limiting customer choice of handsets.

And though it certainly seems tech companies have momentum now in driving change, it is very likely that any tech company that tries to get into the telecom space may find it needs to change, too. (More on that in next week's column.)
"All these things - Net neutrality, Google's interest in the 700 Megahertz auctions - these are all examples of the collision of technology and the communications sector," says Scott Cleland, a self-described "tech-com" analyst who clearly is aligned with the communications camp. "If you think of two cars colliding, one car can take the other in a different direction, but sometimes, they both take each other in an entirely new direction."

PR: “Mobile ADS, just one click away, now with MobiTMS”.

Advertisers looking to deliver Internet ad campaigns directly in the users pocket can now use the “TMS ADCodes” service from MobiTMS a Internet Mobile Services provider.

MobiTMS offer an approach to mobile advertising as a business decision not anymore a technical challenge for ad agencies (for the development) and consumers (for the access).
After the successful launching in Asia of a NIKE/Ogilvy campaign which offered Mobile Ads videos of NBA stars (Lebron James, Kidd, Pierce, Stoudemire), MobiTMS (www.mobitms.com) the provider of “TMS” a suite of Mobile Internet Services announced the worldwide launching of its Mobile Advertising service “TMS ADCodes” which will make ad campaigns accessible to more than 500 million mobile phones, including 450 phone models operating on more than 350 wireless networks worldwide.

This platform enables AD Agencies to get mobile sites, include videos, transfer RSS Feeds & well-known digital tools contents (TMS offers an automatic mobile version of blogs, Flickr albums, Twitter feed, Shozu feed…), develop mobile polls, create the linked TMS 2D barcode and follow the campaign statistics in real time on-line.
The service opens a way to launch mobile Internet campaigns over GPRS, 3G or WIFI networks and offers a user friendly access with just one mobile scan on a TMS barcode incorporated on print ads or on a web site.

Evolution of the web to mobile is inevitable

“Each generation generally has a desire to overturn - or even revolt - against their established precedents... Today’s web is undoubtedly due for such a shake up…. What is dawning on me is this: that the coming revolution isn’t something that will be driven through the adoption or innovation of today’s establishment. Those lonely PC screens are Generation X’s comfort zone. We find ourselves struggling with small screens and small keys to even glimpse the potential of the next decade’s on-line experience. So I’m looking to Generation Y. They’re the mobile generation. They’re the ones looking for a new angle. They’re looking for a paradigm that they can adopt, pioneer, and make their own. And they’re going to be the guardians of the web in the coming decades - the web that will finally call itself truly mobile… Most importantly, they will do wonderful things with the mobile web. Darwinian things that the now-conservative institution of today’s web would probably never grasp, risk, or predict.”

great post !

Lebron James with a TMS barcode, What more?

Nike in “Mobile 2.0” Campaign with TMS
NIKE Asia launches in Phil the first “Mobile 2.0” Ads campaign in ASIA using TMS, the suite of Internet Mobile Services. For the first step of this campaign 4 NBA stars (Lebron James, Kidd, Pierce, Soudemare) are associated to a TMS barcodes linked to mobile goods to download.
The campaign looks very good! Big (8 x 11 feet) outdoor billboards and posters in NIKE stores. They also inserted a poster in FHM, one of the most popular magazine in Phil.

My son is really crazy about NBA (like me) and when I told him that NIKE launched a campaign with the TMS barcodes associated to Lebron and Kidds and I saw his eyes I understood the deep mean of the Andy Warhol concept "15 of minutes fame"... for my son I'm now a hero but we have a new bet: associate a TMS barcode to Ronaldinho ;-)
NIKE please help me!

Show Time!

Bonjour
We are launching our “Big Baby” next weeks “TMS Mobile PayWorld” and in the same time we decided to launch our blog to have an interaction with the mobile users. This blog has the ambition to let the TMS community members be informed of all the news of our services and content partners that can be found in TMS Republic, but also about the evolution of the Mobile Planet in terms of new services and technologies.

We really believe that the Third Screen is in revolution (via the offer of high speed Internet access), and the Telco’s are in the same position as the Internet Web access providers 10 years ago in the sense that by offering internet access they opened the door of mobile subscriber access to new players and lost the exclusive control of the user base (some handset manufacturers as NOKIA understood this and anticipate the future by going into mobile entertainment business). The entrance of new players in the business will offer many new applications for the benefit of the consumers.

The TMS suite of Internet Mobile Services has the ambition to participate in this revolution and we think that The TMS Mobile payment solution “TMS Mobile Payworld”, the first Telco’s independent solution which includes a real time mobile billing platform and 2D barcodes technology, is one of the answers to the “Mobile Generation” expectations in terms of “user friendly and worldwide mobile payment solution”. We hope that TMS Mobile PayWorld become an everyday convenient payment method adopted.
And in your side don't stay "watching the paint dry", participate to the revolution via your comments and your suggestions.
